We’re going into a new month, which means setting new goals! We made almost 2,000 calls to members of the district last month to check in on our neighbors’ health and well-being, and we’re setting a goal to make three times that many calls this month: 6,000 calls to the members of the 12th Norfolk District to make sure that our grassroots campaign is known. It is an ambitious goal, but our team has been growing as well! We’ve onboarded two new field organizers, who you’ll hear from later, and our new intern, Rachel! With so many awesome volunteers willing to make calls, too, I think our call goal will be reached. We’ve set an even more ambitious fundraising goal, however, to get us $3,000 raised by the end of June. We’re counting on our grassroots supporters to get us there. If you’re able, if you could pitch in a few dollars, it would help us immensely. I’d really like to buy some more signs to put up around the district and send out a mailer by the end of the month, but we cannot do it without the funds. If you can, donate here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/mikefieldfund
I want to thank our team for getting us to where we are now. We have over a dozen hands working day-in and day-out on this campaign, with so many more taking time out of their weeks to help out on the campaign. I sincerely appreciate it. If any of you want to reach out and volunteer, or make suggestions, or just get in contact, feel free to email me: email@example.com
Talk to you in two weeks!
By Jack Steen and Levi Trestan, Field Organizers
Jack and Levi here from the field team. Although we’ve moved to a completely digital campaign, that hasn’t slowed us down! Our incredible volunteers and campaign staff have worked tirelessly to contact the residents of Norwood and Walpole, to not only let them know about our campaign, but to also check-in on our community during this uncertain time. Mike has also spent time writing to the residents of the 12th Norfolk District, and his efforts have been recognized throughout the community. Jack made a call the other day, and was happy to hear that a resident had received a letter from Mike, and was committed to voting after receiving a card in the mail.
Although we cannot meet voters in person, this was an important example of what small gestures like a letter or a phone call means to people. As a field team, although we aim to contact as many voters as we can, our first priority is to try and engage and foster meaningful connections with the residents of Mike’s district. It is extremely important that we not only speak about the change Mike and our team want to bring to the Norfolk 12th, but that we also act upon it, and have meaningful conversations so we can find out how to best serve the residents of the district.
We are still looking for more volunteers to join us in making phone calls, writing postcards, and to help us out with other socially-distant field tasks. Please use this link to sign up to volunteer with us: http://www.votedooley.com/get-involved.html. We are also in the process of creating a virtual “campaign office” on Facebook, so that all of our supporters and volunteers can stay in touch, and know about our latest campaign updates. If you're in the 12th Norfolk District, be on the lookout for a call!
By Izzy Klein and Will Woodring, Social Media and Communications Directors
Hey everyone! Izzy and Will, the Social Media and Communications Directors here. We will be keeping you up to date on what’s going on with our communications. This past week, we felt that it was important to recognize what was going on in our country, and to honor and recognize prominent Black voices and legislators in our local, city, and state legislatures all across the country.
Next week, we will be recording videos of Mike to help explain his policy and share some important messages about the community. It is incredibly important that we take advantage of the Internet to connect with the people of Norwood and Walpole since in-person campaigning has been stopped by COVID-19. Although we’ve moved to a completely digital campaign, we still want to make sure that you all are able to hear about Mike and his vision for the Norfolk 12th, directly from him. We have plenty of exciting content planned for the next couple of weeks, so be sure to check out our social media to stay up-to-date on everything Team Dooley!
